Beauty queens, it’s time to update your make-up as a new season is officially here. We’ve rounded up the coolest beauty trends as seen on the spring-summer 09 catwalks and the products to help you achieve them. Make-up tools at the ready, as we go beauty-trending…
Statement lips
If there’s one thing you do this season, it’s load your lips with colour. Pouts were punchy across the catwalks and we guarantee even the most reluctant lipstick wearers will be converted by the end of the season.
Brilliant shades from matte-tangerine orange at Proenza Schouler, playful reds at Luella, glossy chocolate browns at Dior and even fashion-forward lilac at Zac Posen make the statement lip this season’s hottest beauty trend.
Textures and formulas of natural lipsticks have improved tremendously, making blending easy and staying power seriously impressive. Nourishing oils like jojoba, minerals and vitamins all replace artificial preservatives and petro-chemicals.
Go for eccentric experimentation and forget colour matching to your complexion. Apply with a brush and build colour up as you go - one coat for a fresh daytime look that doesn’t look too ‘done’ or continue applying for an intensified pout.
Lip gloss is an option but don’t wimp out on the shade - go for strawberry red, fuchsia pink or coral. Eye make-up can be kept minimal or define eyes lightly with mascara and soft eyeliner, keeping attention on the lips.
We love:
- The pow-wow Raspberry Red Natural Lip Gloss from Elysambre (£10.99) that sticks all day and best applied with a brush
- The three shiny, summertime pink lipsticks from The Body ShopRoseflower make-up range (£10)
- A rich-pigment, berry lipstick, from Lavera (shade 19) - Hot Tip: deep burgundy is a BIG beauty trend.
